Founded in New York in 2013, Decca Interiors now reimagines Orange County Mediterranean homes through California light and nature.
Our story
Decca Interiors is a boutique interior design studio founded in 2013 by Veronica Decca.
With a background in Interior Design from Parsons, The New School, the studio was built on the belief that the strongest interiors are not trend-led, they’re led by the surroundings and landscape. Light, place, and material are not decoration. They are the foundation.
New York beginnings
Decca Interiors began in New York City, designing vibrant, upscale city apartments for clients from all over the world : homes that reflected distinct personalities, cultures, and lifestyles within the fast pace of urban living. The work was polished and expressive, but always grounded in function, proportion, and the way a space is actually lived in day to day.
That same year, Veronica received a Rising Star Award from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) for an upstate barn project designed with a distinctly local approach: sourcing furniture and pieces from nearby makers and stores, and drawing inspiration from the rustic, raw character of the surrounding landscape.
A move West
After more than a decade designing in New York, Veronica moved to Orange County, California. The shift made something immediately obvious: the environment here is not just beautiful, it’s defining. The colors of the coast, the warmth of the sun, the softness of evening shadows, the way light moves through a home. California has its own logic.
Veronica became obsessed with translating that logic into interiors: sunset tones, mineral neutrals, natural textures, warm whites, shadow, and quiet contrast, not as an aesthetic trend, but as a coherent design language that feels right for the region.
The discovery: Orange County’s planned-community Mediterranean homes
During her first year in California, Veronica worked as a kitchen designer for a European company and visited many homes across Orange County. Again and again, she saw the same pattern: planned-community homes built in the 80s and 90s, often Mediterranean or Tuscan in style, with layouts and finishes that were ready for renovation.
Many homeowners felt stuck. They didn’t necessarily choose the darker Tuscan look, but they were living with it, and they were unsure what “updated” should mean. They wanted brighter, more elevated interiors, but feared turning their home into a generic modern white box that didn’t match the architecture.
Veronica found herself thinking beyond kitchens. She kept returning to the same question:
How do you renovate these homes with a bigger perspective, one that respects the architecture, improves light and flow, and still feels like California?
That question became the foundation of the studio’s signature method.
Nature → Home
Nature → Home is Decca Interiors’ design approach: a decision-making system rooted in the Southern California environment.
It starts with how light enters a home, how the landscape is experienced from inside, and how materials can create warmth without heaviness. It results in spaces that feel cohesive: where arches, staircases, finishes, and lighting all belong to the same story.
What we specialize in now
Today, Decca Interiors specializes in renovating dated Orange County Mediterranean and planned-community homes (especially 80s–90s builds) into spaces that feel warm, light-filled, current, and quietly luxurious.
Projects include:
whole-home interior refreshes and renovations
material and finish direction (plaster, stone, wood, metals)
lighting plans that change the mood and function of the home
architectural and staircase detailing edits that remove heaviness
furnishing and styling for a finished, elevated result
Our goal is not to erase character, it’s to refine it. To remove what feels dated or heavy, amplify what’s timeless, and bring the home into alignment with how you live now.
“ In the end, the project matched everything we discussed and enhanced the home in ways I hadn’t considered. I’m happy to recommend her work.”
